On Earth

Prototype teams, representing Kenya, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Israel, the Philippines, the UK and the US, bring critical global and cross-cultural perspectives to the first Model Mars journeys.
On Mars

This map shows Model Mars site locations (fictional), in relation to each other and to landing sites of past and future Mars missions (real).
SETTLEMENTS
Named to honor those whose contributions have made living on Mars possible:
- Elon’s Enclave, located near the first SpaceX landing site (2030s), where the first Mars settlements were established.
- Shirley Slopes, named for the JPL engineer who led the team that landed the first rover (Sojourner Truth) on Mars.
- Aung Flats, named for the engineer who designed the first Mars helicopter, is located on a level plan where it Ingenuity took its first flights in 2021.
- Wrexie Tube is an underground settlement (built in a giant lava tube) named for Percival Lowell’s assistant, one of the first women to study Mars through a big telescope.
- The Commons is a shared location, currently under construction. The Mars Transit Hub and the Mars Museum are located here.
